gt green-tree Open Day

Green-tech were pleased to open their four gt green-tree production sites to their customer and industry specialists in October, November. The four sites at Dewsbury, Tamworth, Blaydon and Esholt manufacture an award winning topsoil.

Customers and visitors were able to see the process of manufacture of the green-tree topsoil and the quality processes involved.

The topsoil is manufactured by taking the blended organic material, which has been fully processed, to two Tarmac quarries and then blend in overburden sand produced from these sites.

In each case we are helping utilise waste organic material from Yorkshire Water which would otherwise be either land-filled or added to agricultural land, processing green compost from Yorkshire Councils and helping Tarmac rid themselves of sand material which would otherwise be unfit for their purposes and would again be land-filled.

The end product is a highly fertile and organic-rich soil that requires no ameliorated additional fertilising for at least the first growing season, allowing plants to flourish during the establishment period. It offers zero weed content, with little or no stone, is compliant to BS3882 standard, and is highly workable in wet conditions whilst also enjoying good water retention properties.

The gt green-tree topsoil range has been recognised for its recycled material content and its positive impact on the environment. Winning the Environmental Product of the Year at the 2006 National Recycling Awards, was a highlight for the end of 2006. The product was also awarded a "Highly Commended" in the "Horticulture Week Awards 2006" in their "Outstanding Contribution to the Environment" Category.

We know that in the current climate there is a great deal of emphasis on maximising the use of materials that are from recycled sources within landscaping and construction projects and that often there is the added issue of sourcing a consistently high quality topsoil, one that is compliant with the current BS3882 standard, and is available all year round.
